Harris Hill are delighted to be recruiting for an enthusiastic, well qualified graduate to join the Mathematics Department at a co-educational senior school in January 2019 (this could be a permanent appointment for the right candidate, but the school are open to excellent teachers available for 2 terms in the first instance)

Applications from Newly Qualified Teachers are welcome and the NQT year is validated by the government via ISCTIP, supported by appropriate mentoring and timetable reduction.

A willingness to be involved in the extensive extra-curricular life at this busy boarding and day school is encouraged.

The Department

The Mathematics Department consists of six full time staff including the HOD, and one part-timer. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a varied timetable up to and including IB Standard Level or A level Mathematics (Mathematics is a compulsory subject, if a student is taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme in the Sixth Form)

We have been teaching Mathematics A level as well as the Diploma programme for some years now and ideally applicants will be able to offer A level as well as Further Mathematics A level. We follow the Edexcel scheme for both the A level and Further Mathematics. Teachers and students use the Pearson Active Learn digital service as well as hard copy text books.  The A level programme is available to those students who are stronger at mathematics, ideally achieving a level 7 or better.

Throughout all these programmes, the use of ICT is encouraged. All of the Mathematics rooms possess computer facilities, data projectors and interactive whiteboards. In addition, entire groups can be booked into specialist computer rooms for lessons. Geogebra software plus many other computer packages and apps are regularly used in the department. Many students possess their own laptops.
