Job description
The Teacher s role may include but is not limited to:
? To support the aims and ethos of the school.
? To sustain and improve the quality of education offered to the pupils in the school through promoting the highest possible standards in an environment which is conducive to excellence in learning and teaching.
? To teach in an imaginative and enthusiastic manner that inspires and motivates
? To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom we are responsible
? To meet all elements of the DFE Teacher s Standards to an appropriately high level
? To enable children to become confident, resourceful, enquiring and independent learners.

The Teacher s role may include but is not limited to:
? Setting high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
? Promoting good progress and outcomes by pupils
? Demonstrating good subject and curriculum knowledge
? Planning and teaching well-structured lessons
? Contributing to and participating in the planning across the year group
? Adapting teaching and respond to strengths and needs of pupils
? Making accurate and productive use of assessment
? Managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
? Fulfilling wider professional responsibilities
? Teaching all areas of the curriculum specific to the relevant year group role and taking responsibility for the academic progress and pastoral care of pupils
? Organising the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive, safe and secure learning environment
? Meeting school requirements for the assessment and recording of pupil development
? Providing feedback to parents and carers on a pupil's progress at parents' evenings and through the provision of high quality written reports
? Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the curriculum
? Covering on rotation for colleagues who may be absent
? Working with the Head of Learning Support and/or the Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator to provide high quality support for children with identified special needs
? Organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
? Liaising with colleagues and working flexibly
? Meeting with other professionals such as education welfare officers and educational psychologists, if required
? Making a positive and professional contribution to all aspects of the life of the school
Where the teacher is responsible for a Form Group, the role may also include:
? Delivering the school PSCHE programme
? Providing pastoral care, support and guidance
? Managing successful and positive links between school and home
? Communicating relevant matters and information to colleagues
