SENCO

Job description

A leading Independent Preparatory School in London require a SENCO from September, 2021. This is a permanent position which can be either part-time (3 days/ week) or full-time if Maths can be offered at Year 6.  The post would entail managing the SEN provision in the school from Nursery to Year 6.

The role will involve responsibility for SEND throughout the school, in close liaison with the SLT. The successful candidate will demonstrate best practise throughout the school to ensure children of all attainment levels reach their potential.

Central to the position will be to outline the strategic direction and development of SEN provision, leading and managing staff and making efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources. The role would entail assisting pupils with special needs such as: dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, dyscalculia and mild learning difficulties.

Essential: A successful track record of teaching pupils with special needs, particularly dyslexia. Applications from experienced SENCOs from secondary school environments would also be warmly received.

Desired: A NASENCO qualification, the ability to offer Maths at Year 6, experience holding a position of responsibility, and a background in the independent sector, would be a bonus, however, this is certainly not essential.

The school adopts a family atmosphere in which children are happy, confident and encouraged to be forward thinking. It is a thriving school that takes pride in its holistic approach to education so that pupils are able to flourish.
