A leading Independent Preparatory School on the Sussex/Kent borders require a SENCO from April, 2021. This is a full time, permanent position with accommodation available.

The role will involve responsibility for SEND throughout the school in close liaison with the SLT. The successful candidate will demonstrate best practise throughout the school working with all teachers and LSAs to ensure children of all attainment levels reach their potential. They chosen candidate will need to foster excellent relationships with children and parents alike, be a real team player, and be committed to wider school life. Central to the position will be to outline the strategic direction and development of SEN provision, supporting the Head of Teaching & Learning, and taking responsibility for data and tracking in the school.  The role would entail assisting pupils with special needs such as: dyslexia, dyspraxia, EAL, autism, dyscalculia, and mild learning difficulties.

Essential: At least 3 years' experience teaching pupils with special needs, particularly dyslexia. Applications from experienced SENCOs from secondary school environments would also be warmly received.

Desired: A NASENCO qualification and other certificates or degrees in Special Needs, prior experience holding a position of responsibility, and a background in the independent sector would be a bonus, however, this is certainly not essential.
