A leading independent school in Kent borders require an MFL Subject Leader from September, 2020. The position would entail managing a department as well as teaching French to A level and Spanish to a minimum of Key Stage 3.

Essential: Prior experience teaching French to A level and the ability to offer Spanish to at least Key Stage 3. A background holding a position of responsibility would be essential.

Desired: Experience teaching Spanish to GCSE or A level, a native speaker of French and prior managerial experience as well as a background in the independent sector would be a bonus.

The Modern Foreign Languages Department is a very popular and thriving department in the school with many students going on to pursue the study of languages at a Russell Group University.

The school's mission is to foster a thirst for knowledge and a real commitment to learning. Students are shown what it means to take responsibility; they are encouraged to develop a strong moral code with the ability to make informed judgements about what is right and wrong. Central to their ethos is the importance of caring for others and teaching students important skills for later life: social, physical and practical.

The chosen candidate should be well organised, thoughtful about how they teach and how they can contribute to improvement in teaching and learning with high expectations of the pupils, themselves and their colleagues. The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in contributing to the range of exciting co-curricular activities offered by the department.
