Harris Hill are delighted to be recruiting for a Head of Technology following the retirement of the long-standing post-holder of the role. This is a super opportunity for an existing head of department or well experienced Teacher of Technology to join a wonderful college in Aberdeen for an exceptional leader and teacher of technology, to begin in March 2019.
The Role
The post of Head of the Technology Department will become available from March 2019. This is a superb opportunity for a new Head of Department to work with a dedicated and professional team driving forward world class education in some of the finest new facilities in the United Kingdom. This is a full time, permanent post.
The Department
The Technology Department has three full-time and two part-time members of teaching staff, including the Head of Department and a Technology technician.
The Technology Department is for Science and Technology is part of a very large and ambitious upgrade of STEM teaching accommodation. The state of the art laboratory and teaching space is at the leading edge for the delivery of the highest quality of learning and teaching, and represents Britain's biggest new science teaching facility at this level. There are 4 purpose built teaching rooms with brand new ICT and teaching facilities, a Practical Craft room, a department base and extensive storage. The Head of Department has a separate office within the department.
Technology is taught discretely as part of a common course in S1-S2. Pupils are presented in Graphic Communication and Engineering Science at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, and Higher Design & Manufacture is another course currently offered by the department. Around 20 presentations are made at National 5 in each subject every year. The school is seeking to increase presentations in Technology subjects at all levels.
Although responsible to the Head of College, the Head of Department's direct link with the Senior Management Team is via one of the Deputy Heads.

Salary will be based on experience of the candidate. Applicants should be registered or eligible for registration with the GTCS. Candidates will be expected to be willing to assist with Extra-Curricular Activities and/or Games, and to play a full part in the wider life of the school.
