The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the Science Department as well as to the College's co-curricular programme.

Departmental Aims
The Department aims to present its pupils with a stimulating learning experience in which they are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of the subject. We encourage boys and girls equally in their pursuit of Chemistry and aim to develop our pupils' understanding of the scientific basis and breadth of knowledge embraced by the subject and its economic, ethical and social implications. We encourage our pupils both to think logically and to analyse and evaluate data and to read widely and to take responsibility for their own learning and so to fulfil their potential in the subject.

Staff and Facilities
The Chemistry Department comprises four well-qualified and enthusiastic teachers, supported by a technician who services practical requirements and maintains stocks of chemicals. The Department is well stocked with the current student texts while the College Library has an extensive stock of texts for reference and extended reading. The Department occupies laboratories on the ground floor of the Science Block and has benefited from an ongoing programme of refurbishment. All laboratories are equipped with interactive whiteboard facilities. The Department is well resourced, particularly for the teaching of practical Chemistry.
